Health Canada Recalls Traditional Kohl Products Due to High Lead Content

Health Canada has issued a recall for traditional kohl products, specifically 'Mumtaz - Herbal Kajal With Almond Oil for Sensitive Eyes' and 'Al-Asmad Alharmain Zam Zam & Rose Water.' These products contain lead levels exceeding the impurity limits outlined in the Guidance on Heavy Metal Impurities in Cosmetics. Lead is toxic, particularly to children, and exposure can lead to serious health effects including anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, severe brain injury, convulsions, coma, and damage to the liver, kidneys, heart, and immune system. Ongoing exposure to even small amounts of lead can accumulate in the body, potentially leading to death in extreme cases.
