B. Braun Medical Inc. Recalls Sodium Chloride Injection Due to Particulate Matter

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that B. Braun Medical Inc. is voluntarily recalling three lots of 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection USP, 100 mL, in a 150 mL PAB® Container. The recall is initiated due to the presence of particulate matter, including iron oxide, inorganic, cellulose, or polystyrene. Administration of the affected product can lead to life-threatening adverse health consequences such as pulmonary emboli, occlusions of other blood vessels, tissue death, organ damage, phlebitis, systemic immune activation, organ dysfunction, and hemolysis.
