AMA and Vaccine Integrity Project Release Independent Review Informing 2026-27 Respiratory Virus Immunization Recommendations

The American Medical Association (AMA) and the Vaccine Integrity Project have completed an independent evidence review assessing the safety and effectiveness of immunizations against influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The findings, published today in JAMA, informed the 2026-27 respiratory virus immunization recommendations issued by leading medical societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). The review confirms that current evidence supports these immunizations in reducing the risk of hospitalization and death from severe respiratory illnesses.
