Thailand Verified by WHO for Eliminating Rubella as a Public Health Problem

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on September 5, 2026, that Thailand has been verified for eliminating rubella as a public health problem. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the country's efforts to protect its population from vaccine-preventable diseases. Rubella infection during pregnancy can lead to severe birth defects, and its elimination protects future generations from congenital rubella syndrome. Thailand is now the seventh country in the WHO South-East Asia Region to achieve this status.
