Scientists Discover Potential Weak Spot in Glioblastoma Brain Cancer

Researchers at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center have identified a protein called SET as a potential target to weaken glioblastoma, one of the deadliest brain cancers. Blocking SET prevented tumor formation in preclinical models, and targeting related proteins made cancer cells more vulnerable to radiation by restoring the activity of an enzyme called PP2A. Human testing is needed to confirm safety and effectiveness.
