Researchers Identify New Weak Spot in Glioblastoma, Potentially Enhancing Treatment

Scientists at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center have identified a potential new strategy to weaken glioblastoma, one of the deadliest brain cancers. Blocking a protein called SET prevented tumors from forming in preclinical models, while targeting related proteins made cancer cells more vulnerable to radiation. This approach aims to restore the activity of the PP2A enzyme, which glioblastoma cells typically suppress. Human testing is needed to confirm safety and effectiveness.
