FDA Approves Four Updated COVID-19 Vaccines for 2026–2027 Season Targeting XFG Variant

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved four updated COVID-19 vaccines from Moderna, Novavax-Sanofi, and Pfizer-BioNTech for the 2026–2027 season. These vaccines are designed to target the JN.1-lineage XFG variant, which is currently the most prevalent globally. The approvals are for adults aged 65 and older, as well as younger individuals with underlying conditions that increase their risk of severe COVID-19.
