Novo Nordisk Reports Positive Phase 3 Data for Semaglutide in Children Aged 6-12 with Obesity

Novo Nordisk announced first results from the STEP Young phase 3 trial, demonstrating that once-weekly subcutaneous semaglutide, combined with lifestyle modification, significantly reduced Body Mass Index (BMI) in children aged 6 to under 12 with obesity. The trial met its primary endpoint, with 40.4% of children treated with semaglutide no longer classified as having obesity after 68 weeks, compared to none in the placebo group. No new safety concerns were identified, including for growth or pubertal development.
