Semaglutide Trial Shows Significant BMI Reduction in Children with Obesity

First results from Novo Nordisk's STEP Young phase 3 trial demonstrate that 40.4% of children aged 6 to under 12 years old with obesity achieved a body mass index (BMI) below the obesity threshold after 68 weeks of treatment with once-weekly semaglutide combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. The overall safety and tolerability were consistent with previous trials, with no new safety concerns identified.
