Higher Saturated and Animal Fat Intake Linked to Increased Mortality in Nonmetastatic Prostate Cancer
A cohort study published in JAMA Network Open found that higher intake of saturated and animal fat after a nonmetastatic prostate cancer diagnosis was associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality. The analysis of 4,884 men from the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study indicated that participants in the highest quintile of postdiagnostic saturated fat consumption had a 24% higher risk of all-cause mortality, primarily attributed to cardiovascular disease and other cancers.
