CDC Reports Nearly 20,000 Confirmed Cases in Ongoing Cyclospora Outbreak

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported 19,595 laboratory-confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis acquired in the United States since May 1, 2026. This represents a significant increase, being more than 16 times higher than the total confirmed cases for 2025. The outbreak includes 11,458 patients linked to iceberg lettuce traced to a Taylor Farms operation in Central Mexico, which has resulted in 990 hospitalizations and two deaths.
