Fiji Declares HIV Outbreak a National Crisis Amid Surging Infections

Fiji's Cabinet has declared the country's HIV outbreak a national crisis due to a significant and ongoing surge in new infections. In 2025, 2,016 new diagnoses were recorded, marking an increase from 1,583 the previous year. The government had initially declared the situation an HIV outbreak in January 2025, highlighting the escalating public health challenge.
