CDC Establishes New Influenza and Respiratory Viruses Division to Enhance Surveillance

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is merging its Influenza Division with the Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Diseases Division to form the new Influenza and Respiratory Viruses Division (IRVD). This organizational change aims to streamline respiratory viral disease surveillance and improve support to state and local health departments, enhancing the agency's operational efficiency in preventing disease, disability, and death from seasonal epidemics and pandemic respiratory viral diseases.
