Large Danish Study Links Early Statin Use to Reduced Dementia Risk in Type 2 Diabetes Patients

A nationwide Danish study involving over 130,000 individuals, presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress 2026 and published in The Lancet Regional Health – Europe, found that people who started statin treatment soon after a type 2 diabetes diagnosis had a 15% lower risk of developing dementia over a 10-year period.
