CDC to Launch Major Research Effort on Long-Term Health Effects in Children Exposed to 9/11

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is initiating a significant research program to investigate the long-term health impacts on individuals who were children or in utero in Lower Manhattan or Brooklyn during and after the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks. This effort aims to address a 25-year gap in research, focusing on respiratory, reproductive, mental, behavioral, metabolic, cardiovascular, and cancer-related health outcomes.
