An NIH-funded study has found that semaglutide, the active ingredient in GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, helped older healthy mice live longer while improving memory, muscle function, blood sugar control, and several biological signs of aging. The effects observed went beyond those seen with calorie restriction, suggesting that GLP-1 drugs could influence a separate biological pathway linked to longevity.
