CDC Declares Cyclospora Outbreak Linked to Iceberg Lettuce Officially Over

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that the cyclospora outbreak associated with iceberg lettuce, which affected individuals in 21 states, has officially concluded. The CDC states there is no longer a risk of illness from this source, as best-by dates for all linked products have passed and they are no longer available. The outbreak sickened 12,883 people, led to 570 hospitalizations, and two deaths. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is continuing its investigation into the contamination source.
