U.S. Health Authorities Declare End to Largest Recorded Cyclosporiasis Outbreak

U.S. health authorities have declared the nation's largest recorded multistate cyclosporiasis outbreak over. The outbreak, linked to contaminated iceberg lettuce from central Mexico, sickened 12,883 people across 21 states, resulting in 570 hospitalizations and two deaths. The FDA stated it is still investigating how the parasite entered the food supply, but all recalled lettuce is off the market and best-by dates have passed.
