WHO Prequalifies Multi-Dose RSV Vaccine Vial to Protect Infants Globally

The World Health Organization (WHO) has prequalified the multi-dose vial presentation of the maternal respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine, RSVpreF (ABRYSVO®). This is a significant step towards making maternal RSV vaccination more affordable and accessible, particularly in countries supported by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, with the goal of protecting more infants worldwide from severe respiratory illness and pneumonia. The WHO recommends administering the maternal vaccine to pregnant women during their third trimester to optimize antibody transfer to the baby.
