FDA Approves Ameluz Red Light Photodynamic Therapy for Superficial Basal Cell Carcinoma

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Ameluz (aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride) topical gel, 10%, in combination with photodynamic therapy (PDT) using the BF-RhodoLED lamp series for treating superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC) in adults. This marks Ameluz as the first FDA-approved PDT drug for skin cancer, offering a non-surgical option for patients.
