New FDA-Approved Drug Targets Advanced Breast Cancer Before Scans Show Resistance

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Etcamah (camizestrant), a new daily pill for certain patients with advanced breast cancer that uses estrogen to grow and does not have high levels of the HER2 protein. This approval is notable for its accompanying blood test, Guardant360 CDx, designed to detect treatment resistance due to ESR1 gene changes before it is visible on scans. The drug is intended to be taken with existing CDK4/6 inhibitors.
