VTAMA® Cream 0.5% Approved in Japan for Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis (Under 12 Years Old)

Shionogi & Co., Ltd. and Torii Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. have obtained manufacturing and marketing approval in Japan for VTAMA® Cream 0.5% (tapinarof) for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in pediatric patients aged 2 to under 12 years. This nonsteroidal, small molecule therapeutic works by modulating the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) to suppress inflammatory cytokines and enhance skin barrier function. The approval is based on a domestic Phase 3 clinical trial that demonstrated the drug's superiority over vehicle cream and favorable long-term tolerability.
