Shionogi's JN.1-Adapted COVID-19 Vaccine Approved for Booster Use in Japan

Shionogi & Co., Ltd. has secured partial approval in Japan for its COVGOZE® (JN.1-adapted) recombinant protein COVID-19 vaccine. The approval specifically adds a booster dose indication, highlighting the company's platform for adapting vaccines to evolving SARS-CoV-2 strains. However, this vaccine is not slated for supply during the 2026/2027 vaccination season.
