Australian Health Regulator Warns Practitioners on Unsafe Prescribing of Peptides, Medicinal Cannabis, and Weight-Loss Drugs

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) has issued a warning to registered health practitioners regarding unsafe prescribing practices, particularly concerning unapproved peptides, medicinal cannabis, and GLP-1 weight-loss drugs. Regulatory action has been taken against practitioners, and new guidance has been published to reinforce obligations when prescribing off-label or unapproved medicines, or those to be compounded, to prevent patient harm.
