CDC Observes National Rise in Rabies Exposures

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported a nationwide increase in human rabies exposures since July 2026. Rabies-related inquiries rose by 17% from July to August compared to the previous year, and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) administrations have recently increased over 40%. This trend indicates a growing public health concern regarding rabies transmission, potentially requiring heightened awareness and preventive measures to mitigate further spread and protect public safety.
