CDC Actively Tracking Four Foodborne Outbreaks Across the U.S.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is currently investigating four active foodborne outbreaks linked to food and animal contact. As of September 25, these outbreaks, involving Salmonella and E. coli infections tied to sprouts, jalapeño peppers, and pet turtles, have collectively sickened at least 538 people across dozens of states. The largest outbreak, a Salmonella infection linked to jalapeño peppers, accounts for over 430 cases. Multiple recalls remain in effect for products made with the implicated peppers.
