FDA Approves Atezolizumab for Stage 3 dMMR Colon Cancer Treatment

The FDA has approved atezolizumab (Tecentriq) combined with chemotherapy for adjuvant treatment of adult and pediatric patients aged 2+ with stage 3 mismatch repair-deficient (dMMR) colon cancer. This approval, based on the ATOMIC trial, also includes a subcutaneous formulation. The trial showed a 50% reduction in recurrence or death risk with atezolizumab, though with increased severe adverse events, offering a new option for this cancer type.
