FDA Approves Roche's Tecentriq for Adjuvant Treatment of Stage III dMMR Colon Cancer
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Tecentriq (atezolizumab) and Tecentriq Hybreza (atezolizumab and hyaluronidase-tqjs) in combination with a fluoropyrimidine and oxaliplatin for the adjuvant treatment of stage III deficient DNA mismatch repair (dMMR) colon cancer. This marks the first approved immunotherapy-based regimen for this specific setting, offering a new post-surgery standard of care for patients at high risk of disease recurrence. The approval is based on results from the phase III ATOMIC study, which demonstrated a 50% reduction in the risk of disease recurrence or death compared to chemotherapy alone.
