Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine Achieves Preliminary Accreditation

The Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine has received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, a crucial step for the institution. As the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) medical school in the Gulf South, it aims to address national physician workforce shortages, particularly in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas like many parishes in Louisiana. The college plans to begin recruiting its first class in 2027.
