Lancet Countdown Report Urges Global Health Emergency Declaration for Climate Change

The latest MJA–Lancet Countdown report emphasizes that climate change is a critical health issue, with evidence clearly demonstrating its adverse effects on health globally and particularly in the Oceania region. The report highlights that many health risks and harms from climate change have accelerated faster in the decade since the Paris Agreement (2016–2025) compared to the previous decade (2006–2015). It calls for climate change to be formally declared a global health emergency and for health to be central to all climate decisions.
