FDA Finalizes Guidance for Mandatory Cosmetic Product Recalls

The U.S. FDA has finalized guidance for mandatory cosmetic recalls, effective immediately, under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA). This allows the agency to order recalls if a cosmetic is adulterated or misbranded and poses a reasonable probability of serious adverse health consequences or death. This enhances consumer safety by providing the FDA with stronger enforcement capabilities.
