Howard County Issues Health Alert Following 33,000-Gallon Sewage Spill in Savage
Howard County has issued a precautionary health alert after a significant sewage spill occurred in Savage on Friday. Approximately 33,000 gallons of sewage entered storm drains, a wooded area near the Little Patuxent Water Reclamation Plant, and the Little Patuxent River due to a damaged seal on a bypass pump. The Department of Public Works was notified of the overflow on Friday at 1:45 p.m. and stopped it by 2:00 p.m. Lime has been applied to affected wooded areas, and signs have been placed along the river.
