Real-World Data Supports Impella Heart Pump Use in High-Risk PCI, Showing Improved Patient Outcomes
Johnson & Johnson presented results from three clinical analyses at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT 2026) symposium, indicating positive survival and patient outcomes when Impella™ heart pumps are used during and after high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (HRPCI). Real-world and observational registry data from 1,379 HRPCI patients in the U.S. and Europe showed lower in-hospital cardiovascular mortality and reduced 30- and 90-day mortality rates compared to those reported in the CHIP-BCIS3 study. These findings emphasize the importance of patient selection and consistent care protocols for improved outcomes.
