Sweden Establishes SEK 50 Million Climate and Health Research Center
A new research center, Spira, has been launched in Sweden with SEK 50 million (approximately $4.5 million USD) from Formas to investigate the links between climate change and human health. Researchers from Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Stockholm University will collaborate on this initiative from 2026 to 2030. The research will explore integrating health into climate policy, designing healthy and climate-friendly residential areas, and adapting healthcare to climate change while reducing its environmental footprint.
