CMS Finalizes 2027 Medicare Outpatient Payment Rule, Increasing Conversion Factor

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has finalized its rule for the 2027 Medicare fee-for-service outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS). Effective January 1, 2027, the rule implements a net 7.7% increase to the OPPS conversion factor, raising it from $90.97 to $98.01 for eligible hospitals. This adjustment will impact reimbursement rates for outpatient services provided under Medicare.
