Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Saturday resulted in the deaths of nine people, including three members of the Lebanese military. An airstrike on the road between Nabatiyeh and Marjayoun killed a brigadier general, a captain, and another soldier. Another strike in the village of Saksakiyah killed six people. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is investigating an incident in the Tebnit area where a vehicle, potentially carrying Lebanese military personnel, was struck after moving suspiciously towards IDF soldiers. The IDF stated it operates against Hezbollah and not the Lebanese military, emphasizing that all movement in the active combat zone requires coordination. These strikes occurred days after a new U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon, which Hezbollah has reportedly rejected.
