Brazilian Army Deploys Troops to Peru Border to Protect Indigenous Lands

On July 25, 2026, the Brazilian Army reinforced its presence along the border with Peru by deploying approximately 30 troops to protect Indigenous lands. This deployment follows an incursion by armed Peruvians into Ashaninka territory earlier this month. The operation aims to prevent and combat incursions, criminal organizations, drug trafficking, environmental crimes, and other cross-border offenses.
