Taiwan condemns "dangerous" planned Chinese-Indonesian naval drill east of the island

China's defense ministry announced a joint "navigation exercise" with an Indonesian frigate in mid-August in waters east of Taiwan. Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council condemned the planned drill as a "military provocation" and "dangerous behavior" aimed at creating a false impression of Chinese jurisdiction over the area. This marks the first time China has publicly announced a joint exercise with a foreign country in these waters.
