U.S. Central Command disables vessels in Strait of Hormuz blockade

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces successfully disabled three non-compliant vessels, boarded two, and redirected 55 commercial vessels attempting to run a U.S. blockade of Iranian ports. A U.S. Navy MH-60 helicopter fired two Hellfire missiles into the engine room of the M/V Vela Nova after its civilian crew ignored warnings while attempting to transit the Gulf of Oman towards an Iranian port. This action was taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure.
