Russian attacks rock Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, killing a baby in Marhanets

Russian forces launched drone and missile attacks on Ukraine overnight into August 16, 2026, with multiple explosions reported in Kyiv. A three-month-old baby was killed and 11 people were injured in a drone strike on a multi-storey building in Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk region. Russia's defense ministry also claimed control of 19 settlements in southeastern Ukraine.
