Iran's IRGC declares Strait of Hormuz closed until Israeli withdrawal and US forces removal

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval forces have effectively re-closed the Strait of Hormuz on August 29, broadcasting warnings over maritime radio declaring the vital waterway shut. The IRGC stated that the strait would remain closed until Israel withdraws from southern Lebanon and the U.S. fully removes its forces from the region. This follows a brief 24-hour reopening after a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran, during which the main central shipping channel was reportedly deemed dangerous due to an estimated 80 naval mines.
