U.S. forces strike 3 Iranian crude oil carriers after IRGC missile attacks on warships, CENTCOM confirms

U.S. Central Command announced that its forces struck three Iranian crude oil carriers on September 5, after Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) fired ballistic missiles toward two U.S. Navy warships. CENTCOM stated that an American aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple Iranian attacks, with no American personnel harmed. The U.S. military "permanently disabled" the IRGC crude oil carriers M/T Downy off Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask, and "completely destroyed" the unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo in the Gulf of Oman.
