Oman Navy evacuates 23 from oil tanker fire in Gulf of Oman near Strait of Hormuz

Oman's Maritime Security Center (MSC) reported that its navy evacuated 23 individuals from an oil tanker that caught fire in the Gulf of Oman, located just east of the Strait of Hormuz. The Panama-flagged vessel was being towed to an Omani port when a fire erupted in its engine room. This constitutes a maritime security incident in a critical shipping lane.
