Iran's Revolutionary Guard Navy Says 2 Oil Tankers Exploded After Hitting Mines In Strait Of Hormuz
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that two oil tankers, including a supertanker, exploded after striking naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC claimed the vessels were transiting an unauthorized route with their navigation and identification systems switched off and were operating with US military support. One of the tankers was reportedly still burning after a powerful blast. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also reported an incident in the Strait of Hormuz where a merchant vessel was struck by an unknown projectile on November 1.
