Iran's IRGC claims interception of two US drones and fires on two oil tankers in Strait of Hormuz
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Thursday that its electronic warfare unit intercepted two US-developed 'LUCAS' drones in the Strait of Hormuz. Concurrently, the IRGC reported that two oil tankers and a tugboat caught fire after striking naval mines in the same strategic waterway, which Iran has designated as an unauthorized route. The IRGC stated that the vessels were attempting to transit through a prohibited passage south of the Strait of Hormuz. This incident follows earlier reports of Iran claiming to have shot down a US MQ-1 drone over Qeshm Island.
