Astronomers Map Milky Way's Star-Forming Boundary, Revealing Closer Edge

An international team of astronomers has pinpointed the true boundary of the Milky Way's active star-forming region. Utilizing stellar age mapping, they discovered that new star creation largely ceases between 35,000 and 40,000 light-years from the galactic center. This research indicates that stars beyond this point are primarily older, migrating objects rather than newly formed ones, offering new insights into our galaxy's structure.
