New Species of Giant Prehistoric Snake Uncovered in India

Researchers in India have identified a new species of ancient snake, *Vasuki indicus*, based on fossilized vertebrae. This colossal reptile, estimated to be between 11 and 15 meters long, lived around 47 million years ago during the Middle Eocene period. Its immense size suggests it was a powerful ambush predator, potentially rivaling the largest known prehistoric snakes.
