COPA Gene Mutations Linked to Intestinal Tumor Development

Researchers from Keio University School of Medicine have uncovered recurring mutations in the COPA gene as an unexpected cause of small intestine tumorigenesis. This gene was not previously associated with cancer, and its mutations appear to promote tumor growth through an unknown mechanism involving the Wnt pathway. The findings are published in Nature Genetics.
