Genetic Marker Discovered for Severe Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Aiding Early Intervention

Researchers have identified a new genetic marker, HLA-DRB1*01:03, linked to more severe forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This discovery suggests that genetic testing could help identify patients at higher risk. Early identification would allow for closer monitoring and the initiation of advanced treatments sooner for both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
