New research indicates that a massive ancient impact, which created the Moon's South Pole-Aitken basin, ejected material from deep within the lunar interior. This ejected material, including mantle rocks, may be found surprisingly close to planned Artemis mission landing sites. This discovery could allow future astronauts to directly study the Moon's internal composition and early history.
